1970s does 1800s, darkness, wood, candles, strange occurances, creaking floors, lonely footsteps, old manuscripts, divine (or hellish) retribution adds up to my favorite sort of horror, whether it's Stalls and really any of the A Ghost Story for Christmas films. Add in a hot mug of tea and a cosy warm blanket and you've got a perfect winter evening's entertainment.

Not as good as the other ones in my opinion was a little tedious but has creepy moments, just ok definitely not bad

Nothing like a ghost story in the Christmas season - this is one of the best

That man gives the impression he'd be as feral as a weasel in bed, that's so hot I think its the whiskers, very Wind in The Willows

I love M. R. James, and his writing is so sharp and fine that my imagination supplies infinitely scarier moments than can be acted out, or represented by 70’s audio - things like the impression of “movement without sound” in the hallway, and everything that contributes to a solid haunting. This is just boring and cheesy unfortunately.
