We Are Still Here
Directed by Ted Geoghegan
When grieving parents Paul (Andrew Sensenig) and Anne (Barbara Crampton) move into the home of a family of bloodthirsty spirits, they mistakenly think the presence is their son. Seeking help, they invite psychic friends May (Lisa Marie) and Jacob (Larry Fessenden) to make contact, but soon realize vengeful spirits aren’t all they have to fear. This grisly splatterpunk spin on haunted house flicks brilliantly twists audience expectations before culminating in an outrageously bloody finale you won’t be able to shake. Named one of 2015’s top 10 horror films by Rolling Stone.

It was fine
A very mid movie. some parts I liked, and the vibe was great. But nothing too groundbreaking
I just blindly picked this, and I am glad I did. I really did like the cinder ghosts. The husband's acting was wonky, but the wife's acting made up for it.
This movie is "BLOODY" fantastic. The special effects are top notch.
an otherwise pretty solid demonic entity type slasher film with some fantastic trippy 70s-style soundtrack and excellent cinematography. SFX were great, though I did get a little bored with the design. I do feel strongly that this movie was marred by a 99% Hwhite cast. I get it was supposed to be in the 70s in a small town but yawn. let's get a teensy bit more melanin on the screen. I also think it's hilarious (in a bad way) that it's 2024 and we're still doing the "our only POC character is the first casualt" thing. in addition, the acting wasn't all there. there were several good performances, but overall I felt the protags and their pals lacked both characterization and chemistry. most of the acting in this film was pretty lackluster tbh. these things aside I did still enjoy it and I did *love* when **** hit the fan, it was very well done.
