At an abandoned theatre, a young girl hears six scary stories inspired by the famous Grand Guignol Theatre, where early 20th century audiences came to see gory plays about real-life horrors. Producer Donald Buck (SISTERS) shares directing duties with six cult icons including zombie king Tom Savini (DAY OF THE DEAD), the reclusive Richard Stanley (DUST DEVIL), and Buddy Giovinazzo (COMBAT SHOCK). Good anthology, though ironically I thought the least scary of the stories (The Accident) was the best.
I an a Tom Savini fan. I enjoyed some portions of this anthology. However, it was a bit lacking in the last story especially. Just disgusting and not in a good way. However, I have a hang up about watching people eat. I hate it. So, I am biased. I hate hearing people chew their dang food!
Only two and a half of the stories in this anthology film were good (I say half because of them had a good premise but was executed poorly). This film seems to contain unnecessary nudity in places where nudity doesn't even make sense, and some of the stories include jarring and disorienting cinematography. I feel bad for the directors of "I Love You" and ""The Accident"—those were the only two stories worth a grain of salt imo.
These elements may be shocking and even bizarre. But, like a lot of midnight-movie provocations, they soon turn predictable.
That last story was utterly repulsive, I will never look at food the same way again.
