The Exorcist III

The Exorcist III

Directed by William Peter Blatty

A cop (George C. Scott) investigates brutal murders similar to ones committed by a long-dead serial killer. But the decapitations and crucifixions couldn’t be the work of the “Gemini Killer” - or could they? After his priest is butchered in a hospital, Lt. Kinderman traces the clues to the psych ward, where a patient claims to be Damian Karras (Jason Miller), the priest who died during the final moments in THE EXORCIST. William Peter Blatty’s complex adaptation of his sequel novel, “Legion”, contains a hallway scare scene that belongs in the horror history books.

This was actually not intended to be an Exorcist sequel, but rather its own film: Legion. The atmosphere is very claustrophobic and dark, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if the developers of Silent Hill didn't use this one for some inspiration. There is a jump scare in the film that is truly exceptional for its set up, and for most people I know, it lives on as the most effective and terrifying jump scare they've ever seen.

i love the cover of this film. ya ever noticed that most horror movies tend to piggyback of the Catholic faith. why is that? only Catholic religion has demons in their midsths. the film was well done 👍. i really enjoyed it only wonder one thing. what ever happened to that carp in the bathtub. did they eat it ? or did he kill it like he said. i suppose the message the director was trying to make was. we all have a little bit of evil in us somewhere somehow.

I think this is an utterly perfect film. Some people complain that the ending is forced, but I think it's exactly what was needed to tell this story. George C. Scott is incredible, Brad Dourif is always amazing, and the entire cast acts their butts off - I personally love the angry nurse.

I have this movie on dvd and it’s always been one of my favorites. I prefer it over the first movie. There’s a couple scenes that will stick with you forever.
