Deadly Blessing

Deadly Blessing

Directed by Wes Craven

Strange murders plague a religious community in Wes Craven's underrated 1981 gem which stars Ernest Borgnine as a holy man, and a very young Sharon Stone in a supporting role. When a Hittite farmer is mysteriously murdered, his friends and loved ones start to fall victim to someone or something. Craven was still three years away from A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, but his work here anticipates the Freddy films' blending of psychological and supernatural horror - not to mention the creepy dream sequences. Fans of '80s slashers and Craven's creations will love this.

This is one of the scariest movies I've ever seen. Underrated and underappreciated. Very dark, some good jump scares and lots of suspense. Love it!

Terrible. Promising plot that really went nowhere and nowhere confusingly fast. Not worth it.
