The Walking Dead: Dead City

The Walking Dead: Dead City

Years have passed since we last saw Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan, (Jeffery Dean Morgan) and the old enemies must now form a tenuous alliance in order to carry out a dangerous mission. Maggie and Negan travel into a post-apocalyptic Manhattan long ago cut off from the mainland, where they discover that the crumbling city is filled with the dead and denizens who have made New York City their own world full of anarchy, danger, beauty, and terror. But as the pair moves deeper into the gritty depths of the walker-infested city, it becomes apparent that the traumas of their tumultuous past may prove just as great a threat as the dangers of the present. Hands down the best walking dead spin off period ..i was never able to get into the other ones and i dnt think the daryl dixon spin off is going to be that interesting ..mainly because its setting ,i’m tired of lookin at the woods lol i live in the city so if a zombie apocalypse happened it’s not gonna look like little house on the prairie outside

Good start to this spin off. Love the setting and direction so far. Already renewed for a second season as well so it's being received positively by fans. Rotten Tomato score is good as well just FYI. I mention these things because this teaser episode has a lot of bad reviews on here so at a glance it seems like a bad episode; it's not. Reading the reviews you can see it's just people complaining about the original TWD show falling off, or that this is a teaser for a different streaming service, or even complaints that this show "ignores" all the drama between Maggie and Negan established before. These are blatantly "reviews" from people who never watched this episode to begin with but left a bad rating because they are upset about something completely different. Boggles the mind but the internet is mostly negative people trying to spread that negativity to others. It's a shame, too, because this is definitely worth a watch to see if you might like to watch the rest, even if it is elsewhere. For the record, Shudder is owned by AMC which is why this teaser even exists. Yeah, it's to get you interested and maybe subscribe to their main service. So what? Young people today weren't around back when HBO would run free weekends once in a while to try and get you interesting in subscribing to their cable channel. It's how business advertises. You don't see people complaining about the free ice cream samples you get from vendors irl which is the same premise. As far as Negan and Maggie, again, if you actually watched this episode, you'd have all that addressed. They didn't retcon that drama; this show is largely ABOUT that drama. Jeez people, take the angst elsewhere please. I'll say it again, good opening here. Feels like older TWD, before the long speeches and melodrama. It feels like we are back to old form, and although nothing can replace that experience of seeing TWD for it's initial seasons, that doesn't mean everything after is bad. Looking forward to next season, AMC!

more TWD why not. i like the characters and it's something enjoyable/mindless to watch. i hope it gets the resources it needs to potentially thrive

So I see we're totally going to retcon all the character development that both characters have had, thus negating (pun intended) Maggie's beautifully-written speech about her conflicting emotions about Negan in the TWD finale.
