Serious but also very light hearted. Creative and overall very fun, and nothing to be taken seriously but weak ending.
Pretty decent Aussie zombie apocalypse movie - some of the ideas in this one are a bit 'out there' but they give it a unique feel to other zombie horrors. I did find that it felt a bit confused as to whether it was wanting to be a comedy or take a more serious tone, I appreciate it's possible to do both but I'm not sure Wyrmwood has quite managed to achieve that without becoming a bit disjointed. Still definitely worth a watch though.
This plays like Mad Max Fury Road meets The Walking Dead. It's right there in the name. Thanks to the Australian setting and a few fresh ideas, this zom-com justifies it's place in the crowded zombie genre. Leon Burchill gives a standout comedic performance as Benny. Unfortunately, whilst the film's tongue is planted firmly in cheek, the character of Benny comes across as a bit of a racial stereotype. Despite this misstep, there is lots of great Aussie humour in the film. The action scenes are also solid. I can't wait to see the sequel...
