The choice to not include subtitles for the foreign language was great as it put you in the same headspace as the protagonist, not being able to understand what is being said around or about her. The red herring part way through hoped to throw off most, putting them at ease until the climax. I wish that suspected person wasn't revealed so early, and was more of a mystery with them lurking in the background of everything the protagonist does. They may have used a bit too much blood in the end, making her survivability and actions doubtful, though it did state she was an actress at one point. Enjoyable and tense throughout, acting was good and the blood used during the gunshots was very nice with the realistic splatter.
Thought this was going to be really good social commentary on how living in a foreign land can make you paranoid and even a bit racist and how that's Bad, Actually- but instead, it's another horror flick about a woman not being listened to and belittled, especially by her husband. Old hat. The Killer is exactly who she thinks it is, there is no subversion of trope and only a by-the-books 'woman no listened to and gets hurt'.
Great movie! highly recommend, its slow but towards the end it's pretty epic!
How was Maika able to do what she did at the end? *rolls eyes*
Slow burn, but so incredibly good!
