One of my favorite 80’s films and it is almost a prototype for From Dusk Til Dawn, with comedy. I also developed a serious Dedee Pfeiffer crush the first time I saw this. So glad it is even better and funnier than I remembered it. Lastly shoutout to Geede Watanabe and Robert Russler, two of my 80’s favorites.
More quirky than funny, overflows with 80's campy charm.
I never saw this as a kid and was very pleasantly surprised. The frat boy characters in it aren't annoying and macho like I worried they might be. It's very fun, and I agree with ULI that it does have a gay subtext. The version on this site seems like it was aired on television because it occasionally fades to black like its going to a commercial and then fades back in. I am not sure if any of the content is being censored for television, it still seems pretty explicit and gory.
fun with unexpected gay subtext
Grace Jones delivers! her character is really interesting. the rest of the movie is somewhat remarkable in that it thinks it's a comedy, but it somehow manages not to land any of its lines. for the right audience, this could come full circle and be so bad it's tonally interesting (or work as camp). that wasn't my experience, but it does have an unusual off-kilter feel. might be a good watch if you like 80s cheese or find train wrecks interesting.
