This was an awesome movie
I am a huge fan of the original Universal Soldier movie but the following 2 sequels was unwatchable. I cringed when I started watching this and ended up really liking it. It was a huge departure from the original series and the blood and gore was ok. It definitely wasn’t a horror flick but it was still a great and entertaining watch. Am a big JCVD fan too so bonus points there.
I am a huge fan of the original Universal Soldier movie then the second and third was a
Don't watch this movie. It's a disgrace to the series its based on. Watch the original 1992 film. After watching 40 mins of this movie I can't believe how much of a slog it is to get through. The main premise is so unclear and a lot of the scenes have being dragged out for longer than they needed to. Don't get me started on the pain inducing flashing lights effects, whenever some kind of syringe is stabbed on to some character. It is not only harmful to those photo sensitive viewers out there, but even if you happen to not have this condition, it is simply awful. And the worst part is that the first flashing sequence (like most of the other scenes in this pathetic movie) are taking way too long! Pretty much the only connection this film has with the original is the appearance of Jean Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren, and a single mention of the Universal Solder experiment from the first film. The movie is so boring and lifeless that even the original stars don't make it any better. I've had enough of this and you shouldn't put up with it too! The reason why Shudder added this to their library is that some of the shots seem to have elements of 'horror' in it, which is extremely odd and out of place considering that the original film was not even horror to begin with! I'll say this again. Avoid this film like the plague and just watch the original. You'll enjoy it better that way. Not even the impressive gore effects save this film from being just absolutely awful.
Why is this here? The scariest thing about it is watching JCVD’s career slide further into obscurity.
