Trouble Every Day

Trouble Every Day

Directed by Claire Denis

American newlyweds Shane (Vincent Gallo) and June Brown (Tricia Vessey) honeymoon to Paris. Once there, Shane secretly begins a search for his former colleague, Leo, who might be in possession of a cure to a tropical virus that has transformed both Shane, and Leo's wife, Core, into ravenous sexual cannibals. Shane meets Leo's wife and triggers an event so cataclysmic it might just lead him to rediscover the peace he seeks to restore his marriage.

A man and a woman, transformed into ravenous sexual cannibals. An American newlywed in Paris searches for the cure, and peace, in Claire Denis' art-horror masterpiece.

Solid love story

I didn't think I was going to like this one. I was wrong. Find yourself a woman who looks at you the way Core looks at her lovers.

A great film... if you like Claire Denis and her flavor of exploratory sex & violence. I love Denis (esp. High Life), and this was no exception. Some clunky dialogue common for French and Italian films made in English. What's most impressive is the intensity toggling between extreme and sedate. It's a slow burn filled with violence that is brutal, sordid, but obviously a turn-on for some of our characters. My take-away is the question of how do we live with our lovers/romantic partners when something carnal and animal beckons inside us all.

I tired to like it, but I couldn't. There was very little plot here.
