I honestly admire the 70's throwback cinematography as done in this movie, the basic concept (a botched execution makes for a good slasher boogeyman origin), and the little bit of humor involved: For example, I thought the bit with the alabama racism at the gas station was funny and clever, even though the meowing is just stupid and seems like a normal real life trope for a group. Overall there's just too much emphasis on the small town banter and hardly anything to hold my interest. I personally like the second one better ("part V") just because there's more of an emphasis on humor, the little girl is a fun character, and there are better kill scenes.

A good unstoppable-killer movie. Maybe I missed it but there seems to be a backstory missing for why he doesn't die. Maybe there's a prequel coming? I like the 70s vibe - harkens back to my childhood horror movie experience.

Consistent throwback slasher vibe perfect for Halloween season - maybe a bit fewer meows needed.
