The Nightmare (Der Nachtmahr)
Directed by Akiz
After a party where Tina watches a gruesome video on her friend’s phone, she begins to experience nasty nightmares. That would be bad enough, but then she begins to be haunted by a monster who nobody else can see. After her therapist suggests talking to the monster, Tina resists, then eventually relents. And that’s when things get even weirder. Is she losing her mind? Or is everyone else crazy? Or perhaps Tina’s trapped in a nightmare? German director Akiz’s first film in a planned trilogy offers no easy answers, but that’s part of the ferocious fun of this stylish and surreal Euro-horror head trip.
A 17-year-old girl is haunted by a goblin-like monster in this surreal German horror film.

Im so glad i watched this.
Stylish and hypnotic coming-of-age story that's actively attacking your senses with the incredibly aggressive use of strobing light and overpowering techno punk music. The epilepsy warning was no joke. It starts with interesting opening that introduces a lot of ambiguity with its portrayal of a non-linear time disturbance. The film tackles the fear and insecurity among teenagers who about to reach adulthood, personified in an odd yet adorable alien creature. Due to its theme, it resorts to blur the lines between what's real and what's not, to create a delusion of a person whose world is thrown off the rails, leaving you with a deep uncertainty. An interesting ride for sure and definitely worth a try.
Interesting
Not as scary as it is a story of a teenage mother and her disgusting, yet lovable, son
Really enjoyed this little movie. I read it as an allegory for learning to love yourself. Very pleasantly surprised!
