total rubbish. takeaways: be nice to old people or they'll kill you, because. climate change is going to kill everyone in 5 days, because. who needs a plot when you've got a murky political message and a doe-eyed heroine? and there's aliens, i guess. if you're in the mood for a film with a cohesive plot with identifiable characters who don't make the same stupid decisions that doesn't culminate in a big collective "what the f?", 'the elderly' is not for you.
pretty good
The ending was a bit of an ambiguous bummer. Not a fan.
There is slow build and then there is The Elderly which devotes over 2/3rds of its runtime to build up and then doesn’t have time for its climax. There are a few good shock moments, but the blink and you'll miss it reveal of the cause was a real groaner.
Generally I liked it, building up tension and mystery, but i feel like it ended at the end of the second act of what would have been a better overall movie.
