Shakma
Directed by Tom Logan
A genetically-mutated baboon goes bananas in this sickening slice of animal horror. Professor Sorenson (PLANET OF THE APES' Roddy McDowall) is the head of a university med school who injects Shakma, a genetically mutated baboon with a drug meant to reduce its rage. Unfortunately it does the opposite, and later, while Sorenson's students are playing a live-action role playing game in the building, the ape goes bananas and starts killing people. Soon, the students have to play a new game called "Run away from Shakma." You won't soon forget this murderous monkey.

This is so nerdy, and a bit slow-going. We happen to love nerdy over here, so that was a plus. It’s also not every day you get a baboon as a horror villain.
they used a real baboon how can u not enjoy it
I found this basically a stupid waste of time - the setup is suuuper dumb the 'monster' is just footage of a monkey scratching at doors and jumping at things offscreen. If you saw a photo of a wicked-looking monkey-monster in the promotional stuff, don't be fooled - it is just a mask that one of the characters wears for like 3s. Things get slightly interesting in the last 30min when it's just the monkey and the final guy trying to kill each other, but the monkey is still boring imho
Occasionally funny, mostly boring
Worth it just to see that monkey go ham on all the doors
