Rabid
Directed by David Cronenberg
In David Cronenberg’s must-see cult favorite, a woman named Rose (porn star Marilyn Chambers) develops a thirst for blood after receiving experimental surgery. When Rose wakes up, she finds a stinger under her armpit which she uses to feed off victims, who later turn rabid and attack others. RABID is body horror as only Cronenberg can do, with sex and death inextricably linked thanks to Rose’s phallic parasite. Chambers gamely made the leap to “respectable” films, and die-hard disco fans may recognize her bizarro single “Benihana” playing over one particularly nasty attack. Contains strong language, violence and gore.

Classic 70s horror. Campy but not overly so, practical effects were pretty good. The general plotline was decent. Though knowing where it would go kind of sucked, but back then, this would've been a fresh thing, so I won't hold it against it. If I could rate half skulls, it'd be a 3. 5. worth a watch if you're in the mood for less scary but more classic horror.
I was surprised by it and enjoyed it. It was like the classic zombie films of the 70’s like the crazies or dawn of the dead. I wish the ending kinda hadn’t just suddenly ended though. The fact that it ended the way it did with only the guy knowing who patient zero was and that body was destroyed kind of left an eerie feeling it may never end. Cause they could give preventative measures but no cure so it had the potential to continue to spread out of Montreal for sometime. Plus loved that it was Canadian. I gave four skulls cause of the ending and the explanation on what ‘it’ was, was extremely vague. I assume a parasite but where did it come from.
Love how her body was just thrown into the garbage truck like wtf thats twisted shit lmao good ass creepy movie though
I know it was the 70's but I expected more gore. Marilyn Chambers was not shy, so that was a bonus. Also, how did Rose NOT know? 3 skulls from this fan.
mehhh. Good for its significants to cinematic history! Cronenberg really has an eye for violence and gore.
