Practical effects were alright! Turn your brain off if you want to enjoy it. Also Mickey Rourke... Not sure how many times he needed to tell everyone he was the projectionist.
I liked it a lot. But Mickey Rourke ...seriously? What did he do to himself? I hardly recognized him.
This is sort of like a train wreck, only less entertaining. If you saw my other reviews around the site, you'd know I usually prefer to be positive, but this was sort of like a train wreck, only less entertaining. It's the framing device that turns what I guess would have been an uneven but watchable anthology into an annoying mess. The fact that the projectionist character isn't revealed until after the second story suggests that we're gradually building toward some kind of final reveal, but there is no real payoff, just a distracting unnecessary epilogue, the proverbial hat on a hat. The young woman who was condemned to a lifetime of disfigurement through bad plastic surgery is dead now. How? Why? Did Mickey Rourke kill her? That would at least give his character something to do.
Someone please hug 1999 while I go call my mom.
Pass. The only good story was the last one. What really set me off was the second story a complete rip-off of one of the best twilight zone episodes ever made. I know every anthology movie can’t be a masterpiece like creepshow but wow they really dropped the ball with this one sadly.
