Mother
Directed by Bong Joon-Ho
Mother lives with her intellectually challenged adult son Do-joon. One night, Do-joon follows a school girl into a dark alley, and the next morning she’s found dead. Despite flimsy evidence, the police arrest Do-joon and coerce him into confessing. But Mother won’t accept the news, and launches into a dangerous investigation of her own that will take her into some very dark places and prove that hell hath no fury like a mom on a mission. After hitting it big with THE HOST, director Bong Joon-ho turned his attention to monsters of a different variety in this critically acclaimed thriller.
A woman embarks on an obsessive quest to clear her son’s name of murder.
Cast: Kim Hye-ja

Don't let the initial slow build and the apparent pace of this movie fool you: it is quite intense, and there are quite a few interesting plot twists. The acting is great, Kim Hye-ja is absolutely fantastic and she carries the whole movie on her shoulders. I would strongly recommend the movie to anyone who is after a good murder mystery with a focus on the characters' emotions and an insight of a specific segment of society. The themes are quite dark, the story overall is literally the opposite of uplifting - you will be left with a pretty sad view on people and life in general. Having said that, I also think we are quite used to a more 'in-the-face' kind of storytelling when it comes to those themes, so it is not a good movie if you are looking for a shocker, a fast-paced action thriller, or a horror.
Wow, that was not what I was expecting at all. I was coming into this expecting some haunted ghost story or a scary evil “Mother dearest “/Jason’s mom type movie, but it turns out being completely the opposite. The acting was really off-putting and unconvincing to me. I didn’t expect it to end the way it did, but I’m actually glad that the case ended up being the way it was.
Interesting enough. More mellow crime drama then horror, but I'm rating based on movie quality. Not whether it fits the Shudder genre. So 4 skulls simply because I stayed into the movie without dozing off and that's hard to do with mellow drama. It wasn't WOW or flat out boring either. It had it's surprises. If you watched "I Saw the Devil"!? It has the same pace and dark tone. That gives you a cloud over your head type of feeling or mood. Just a different story! Worth the watch. I recommend on a rainy day!
this movie is not horror at all shudder you can do better than this
