MadS
Directed by David Moreau
Eighteen year old Romain has just graduated and makes a stop at his dealer’s place to try a new pill. As he heads off to a party, he sees an injured woman on the side of the road and decides to help her, but when she gets in his car, she suddenly smashes her own head against the dashboard, bleeding out until she dies. Is this a bad trip? Or is it something else? One thing is for sure, it’s only the beginning of the night.
Is this a bad trip, or something else? An all-night descent into terror unlike anything you've seen.
Cast: Milton Riche, Laurie Pavy, Lucille Guillaume

Innovative, compelling and incredible acting! The one shot made the film all the more captivating.
The whole film is in one take, amazing cinamatography.

Pros: incredibly made, had me wondering the whole time how they did certain shots. The sound editing and use of lighting was fantastic, some of the best I've seen in a movie. And the MIB were done in an incredibly scary and intimidating way, which I loved. Cons: because of the one-take structure, a lot of scenes dragged on way too long. Mixed with the pretty poor writing, it meant a lot of strong acting choices felt wasted when done. Additionally, the idea of a drug that turns you into an RE monster is a great idea, but they didn't do a great job really capturing the feeling of "having a trip", which was a missed opportunity and made the drug aspect seem "cool" rather than interesting. Finally, for a movie that forces you to stay with three characters the whole time, none of them were really fleshed out, which makes it harder to feel bad when they start going nuts. All said, an interesting premise with amazing technical execution, hampered by an okay-at-best story. 3/5
