Infested

Infested

Directed by Sébastien Vaniček

Kaleb is about to turn 30 and has never been lonelier. He’s fighting with his sister over an inheritance and has cut ties with his best friend. Fascinated by exotic animals, he finds a venomous spider in a shop and brings it back to his apartment. It only takes a moment for the spider to escape and reproduce, turning the whole building into a dreadful web trap. The only option for Kaleb and his friends is to find a way out and survive.

Venomous spiders create a dreadful trap in this acclaimed and highly anticipated creature feature. Arachnophobics, beware.

Cast: Théo Christine, Sofia Lesaffre, Jérôme Niel, Lisa Nyarko, Finnegan Oldfield

Solid creature feature. If you hate spiders at all this will creep you out. Stairwell scene was awesome. Absolutely hated the protagonist of the film. Any "character growth" felt shoehorned in. 4/5 premise. 2. 5/5 plot & execution.

I never do this because I try to find SOMETHING redeemable about any movie I see. But I hated this movie. The lead is unlikable as he is the reason why spiders are infesting his apartment complex. Despite being framed as someone who cares about the residents, his decisions kills the residents and worse yet, in MOSTLY OFF SCREEN deaths with no gore. This was dull and I've seen SyFy channel movies that are more charming and entertaining. There was nothing scary. The spiders get bigger but there's no explanation. They illegally imported them from the middle east without and explanation. In fact, the fact that they get bigger isnt really addressed. Sure the characters react to them getting bigger but no is question why they're bigger, even though there's characters who are animal experts. The b-plot about the lead trying to mend his relationships with his sister, his best friend, and others is dull and only furthers to show how hollow this movie is. I truly do not wish this film any success and the fact that the director is tapped to direct the new Evil Dead installment is worrying. I would not hire him to do that and I dont have much faith he could pull it off. Even if he does, I'll forever hate this movie.
