Fun soundtrack and a campy vibe, but the story does not hold up. Spoilers ahead! Changing your face with a skin graft would not change your height or bone structure, and the film asks you to accept too much. Character motivations felt off, especially how cruel everyone was to Wei for no clear reason. Wei’s sudden transformation into a killer did not make sense. I did enjoy the moment when the movie shifted into a doppelgänger story, but it still did not feel realistic. The main character went from being obsessed with science to a crazed killer without much explanation. The monster effects at the end were well done, but overall the film was hard to take seriously.
