It's like someone took the middle of a short and tried to turn that into an entire movie.
Like all family / trips, it's both predictable / and ends with bloodshed.
This ruled. Very 2000s
While the plot wasn't surprising at all, it was quite good.
Christmas Eve, and a family is driving to a relative’s in another town when the father decides to take a shortcut to jazz up an otherwise humdrum night. They soon realize they are going round in circles, the shortcut turning out to be a dead end. Tonally discordant, with annoying family dynamics, mysterious enough to keep me hooked.
