waste of time
I want to give it a better rating for the sake of the actors, but I can't justify it. The movie was slow, with many scenes being drawn out for way longer than it needed to be. The only character that I felt any empathy for was the boy, and even then, he was still unnecessarily cruel to his stepmum at times. All of the acting was good, but the script let the actors down. The story was lacking any oomph, and the creature was never given any context, making the movie feel pointless at the end of it. If there had been a backstory for the creature, then there would have been more meat on the bones of this movie. Without it, the creature felt meaningless because we didn't even find out what he actually wanted the boy for. Was he going to eat him? Steal his soul? Use him as a puppet? Make him disappear? I feel like I just wasted my time, to be honest.
I saw all the bad reviews and passed on this one so many times, finally watched today and I am blown away! Really enjoyed it from start to finish.
Some good moments, fairly standard horror.
Sit through twenty awful horror films but its worth it when you find a good one like this.
