Decent. Not where I thought it was going, but not in a bad way.
Curious film. Visually it’s a cinematic treat— from the colour correction, the negative space, the framing; it’s a dark movie that uses it productively and effectively. Story wise it’s a bit of mixed bag. On one hand it plays with some very interesting ideas and the most interesting idea of censorship— it often feels as if there’s not enough presented. It really emulates a feeling of the film itself being a manifestation of being censored and stripped of connecting pieces. At first it seems as if there’s something very half baked, but slowly there’s a breaking down between audience and viewer that leads to a very captivating realization. It has its flaws but is definitely worth a watch.
Beastman blows it.
Ending fell a little flat for me, but the first hour is great.
This one is fun- a bit of a mind screw if you like that. (I do, you might not.) 4/5 because sometimes it does feel a little bit lost, but it's a lot of fun, especially if you really like 80s splatter.
