PRbooboo, you're a freaking dork who overthinks too much. Candyman is one of the greatest, unconventional horror movies of the 90s and was a unique different type of film. Go collect some cans and find some romance in that.

Despite the annoying white savior moment towards the end, this movie is just *chefs kiss* perfection.

My relationship to this movie is complicated. I enjoy the thematic elements of the film and, overall, it's beautifully filmed and well directed. My problem comes from unclear plot elements. Candyman as a character really doesn't make much sense when you think about him. [Minor spoilers] He wants to be remembered forever, but nothing about his backstory really explains why he feels the need to be remembered or why he wants to kill people (especially when you think about the tragic reasons he came into being himself). I get there's supposed to be a hidden love story in this that's reminiscent to his past and he's very much a modern Dracula, but it still doesn't really make sense for him, give that nothing about this backstory is shared that would make me think he'd want this. I give a recommendation to watch it, but I'm going to admit that Candyman the villain is a little lackluster in this.
