Beyond the Gates
Directed by Jackson Stewart
‘80s VHS nostalgia becomes deadly in this clever chiller about two brothers who reunite when their father vanishes. While cleaning out pop’s video store, Gordon and John find a VHS game featuring a creepy hostess (cult icon Barbara Crampton) who reveals that dad is trapped inside. The siblings’ disbelief turns to horror when they learn that in order to free dad, they’ll have to sacrifice some of their loved ones. Tailor made for fans of Stuart Gordon and Brian Yuzna’s films, Jackson Stewart’s ghoulish gem is well on its way to becoming a cult classic itself. A sequel is already in the works... Contains strong language, sexual scenes, violence and gore.
Two brothers find a mysterious VHS board game that leads them into a demonic realm.

Like others have said, this movie has pacing issues... But the biggest problem is slapping Barbara Crampton's name on the poster even though she's barely in it... A repeat of Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi's name slapped on the front of 'Intruder' even though he gets about 30 seconds screen time. Worth the watch, but could've done more to back their claim as being a 'Nod to Gordon and Yuzna' 3/5
Don't bother. If you enjoy movies that are white men speaking and flip-flopping for nearly two hours, where the game only majorly comes into play in the last 20 minutes, and any enemy they're faced with barely fights back, congratulations! You'll enjoy this. The main character is as bland as a plain cracker and has no charisma whatsoever, none of the characters are particularly likeable save for the woman in the TV who, frankly, adds more to the movie than anyone else by staring silently for 90% of it. Every time they sit down to play the game they leave about a minute later, effectively dispelling any building tension and replacing it with frustration much like the most boring and anticlimactic 90-minute edging possible.
Slow to start but as soon as they opened the board game the action picked up
