I am surprised how well this movie stands the test of time. While hilarious at times with its dialogue, score and kooky characters, it also tells a wonderful story that's worth watching. At only about an hour for a fun time, what's there to lose? It definitely has left me with numerous quotes to throw about with friends and a better appreciation of early horror.
I saw this first on television visiting my aunt and uncle's in Southern California. I had a room with a little black and white TV and I saw this on one of the independent stations. I doubt that watching it as a junior higher I caught the satire of pretentious art and beatnik culture. But I liked it as a story of murder. I was able to watch the film at 2023's Drive-In Film Festival with the film's creator, Roger Corman present. It's still a funny and disturbing film. And the appearance of Bert Covey, game show staple of the eighties, never stops being amusing.
Possibly my new number one favorite film ever! Genuinely felt compelled to clap once it was over.
Dick Miller was so good in this, I thoroughly enjoyed watching this Roger Corman classic.
Recommended by the AVGN on his latest Roger Corman tribute. Fantastic movie; satirical and well-executed.
